Field Tour of the Grasslands

Field Tour of the Grasslands.

Co-hosted by the Grasslands Conservation Council of BC (GCC), BC institute of Agrologists (BCIA), the Nature Trust of BC (NTBC), Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), the East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKISC), and the Province of BC.

Date: Monday, June 17th, 2024. 9am-11am

Location: Wycliffe Butte. Meet at the Stirton Road parking lot.

Tour stops: Easy to moderate hike approx. 4km to the top of the first Butte and back to the parking lot. Stops along the way with information from grassland experts!

Topics: Wycliffe Conservation Corridor, grassland ecology, grass/plant/weed ID, forest ingrowth, ecosystem restoration, fire effects, grassland management (wildlife, livestock, recreation, etc), invasive species, species/habitats at risk, recreation management, and more!

Cost: Free!

Please bring your own water/snacks and come prepared for the weather and field conditions.
