On behalf of Chief & Council, we are proud to announce the date of this year's ʔaq'amEconomic Development Evening, being Thursday, September 26th. Time is yet to be announced but networking will likely start at 4:30 pm. The location for this year's event will be at the St. Eugene Mission Resort.
ʔaq'am Community Enterprises, or ACE, is the Community Development Corporation of the ʔaq’am Community. The Board of Directors govern ACE as a business-focused, profit-generating entity which both carries out and engages in various and diverse business operations and activities. ACE is currently seeking interested individuals to participate as a Member of the Board of Directors. Please see the attached pdf posting for more information and details about this opportunity.
We are going to gather as a Community in our Traditional Territory to reconnect with the land and take part in our culturally relevant activities. ʔaq'am is looking at making this Trek an annual event with the hopes that each year will only get bigger and better. We believe community treks build better relationships which foster our strengths as a community, as families and as individuals.
The 2013 Awards Day was held on June 27th at the Kinsman Quad Park in Cranbrook. This day is all about honouring our students for all of the hard work they do throughout the school year. Every person has something they are good at and we at ʔaq'am acknowledge all of our students from Early-Learning to Post-Secondary. This year was an exceptional year with 17 students recognized as “Overall Achievers” within various categories such as: excellence in attendance, attitude, effort, participation and academic achievement.
