Applications are now open for BC TREX. The BC Wildfire Service and Ktunaxa First Nation are collaboratively developing the fall 2024 BC TREX, with support from the First Nations Emergency Services Society.
WHAT IS TREX?
TREX is a unique, cooperative, prescribed burning training model that provides hands-on learning with a focus on local landscapes and values. firenetworks.org/trex

This will be the first-ever TREX hosted in British Columbia!
It will be hosted by ʔaq̓am, a Ktunaxa First Nation Band.
We are grateful to be able to learn together on Ktunaxa traditional territory.
Let’s build the right kinds of capacity in the right places.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
To attend TREX, participants must complete:

•a moderate pack test (this fitness test can be self-administered)
•S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety
•I-100 Introduction to the Incident Command Systems
•CIFFC’s S-290 Principles of Fire Behaviour
•CIFFC’s S-291 Understanding the Fire Weather Index
