The Department of Operations has undertaken a structural assessment on the existing water reservoir. An inspection determined that the building requires repairs to the structure, which is deteriorating and showing signs of stress. Following the assessment, the reservoir was drained and cleaned and some maintenance was completed, including replacing some valves and seals.

Work continues on determining a suitable back-up water source, as required by the federal government’s Level of Service Standards for community water systems. Test wells were drilled at a site near the St. Mary’s River but yielded unfavourable results. ʔaq'am and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) collectively explored options to purchase private land and other opportunities to develop a back-up well but all have proven too costly. The most favourable option to date is to locate a back-up well near the existing golf course property, although some issues with this option have yet to be resolved.
