For generations, ʔa·kinq̓uku—or fire—has played an important part in ecosystem renewal in the East Kootenay. In the community of ʔaq̓am, it also has a significance that connects to a long history of stewardship of ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa.

Do you have an interest in housing and want to be part of the exciting housing project that we will be building in 2022, here's your chance. Attached you will find the expression for interest package.  If you have our newsletter mailed to you, you will also receive printed copies in there - or pop by the band office and we would be happy to print it off for you.  Applications are due back on by November 30th at noon - we hope to see you name in the hat!

Joint News Release-ʔaq'am Community and Purcell Collegiate Incorporated MOU

The ʔaq'am Community and Purcell Collegiate Incorporated (PCI) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties. The signing took place on Tuesday, October 12 at ʔaq'am and is the result of 19 months of collaborative discussions and cooperative initiatives. The MOU articulates the parties’ groundbreaking partnership on PCI’s in-development international boarding school, Purcell Collegiate, and lays the groundwork to expand ʔaq'am’s role to include shares in PCI and a seat on its corporate board of directors.
